Psychological Symptom Analyzer (PSA) helps you explore how a set of symptoms relates to the criteria of recognised mental disorders. Select symptoms, add context, and see which disorders’ criteria match — with a clear explanation of what matched, what’s missing, and why.
PSA is an educational tool for students, trainees and curious users. It does not provide a diagnosis.
MATCHES THAT EXPLAIN THEMSELVES
• 376 symptoms and 39 context items (duration, onset, age, possible causes), grouped by diagnostic chapter
• Results are matched against each disorder’s criteria structure, including required features, thresholds and exclusions
• Clear labels: Criteria pattern met, Possible, or Partial match, with a strength bar
• Tap any result to see matched criteria, what still needs confirming, and what wasn’t selected
GUIDED MODE
Not sure where to start? Answer a few short screening questions and PSA shows only the symptom areas that apply, then asks about duration and context. After analyzing, Refine asks only for what uncertain results are missing.
STUDY MODE
• Why isn’t it listed? Pick any disorder and see exactly why it’s not in your results: a missing required feature, a cause not selected, or simply ranking below the top 10.
• Compare: Put two disorders side by side to see shared criteria, what’s unique to each, timing requirements, and what rules each out.
208 DISORDER PROFILES
Every profile includes a plain-language overview, key features, the criteria checklist, onset and course, prevalence, specifiers, risk factors, linked differential diagnoses, ICD-11 codes and a link to Wikipedia.
EXPORT AND NOTES
Tick results and criteria, add notes, and share a clean PDF or text summary through Mail, Files, AirDrop or Print. Every item is listed and marked.
DESIGNED FOR iPHONE AND iPAD
• Keyboard shortcuts on iPad
• VoiceOver, Dynamic Type up to the largest sizes, Increase Contrast, dark mode and Reduce Motion
• Your selections and notes stay on your device: no account, no tracking, no data collection
SAFETY FIRST
If thoughts of suicide or self-harm are selected, PSA shows where to find help right away.
IMPORTANT
PSA is for educational purposes only and is not a substitute for assessment by a qualified mental health professional. Results depend on the information entered. If you or someone you know is in crisis, contact local emergency services immediately.
